Hi everyone!
I wanted to give you a little update on Lil’ Miss Mavis—aka our beloved studio supervisor at SBD.
Last month, Mavis came home from a spa day with a limp. Long story short: she had a partial tear in her knee and needed surgery.
Surgery!
I won’t lie—I was a wreck. The recovery process is long and challenging… honestly, probably more difficult for me. I’m a full-on dog mom, and the worry was real. It broke my heart that she didn’t understand what was happening. There were definitely tears. And stress. Lots of both.
After two weeks of battling cones and inflatable donuts (plus too many Amazon orders), and sleeping on the floor to stop her from licking her incision, I’m relieved to say we’ve made it to the next stage of recovery.
Those plastic cones? Torture. I don’t care what anyone says.
It’s been all about crate rest, confined spaces (highly recommend this playpen!), and—sadly—no couch or bedtime snuggles.
Mavis has always been a pretty chill Westie, but this has not been her vibe. We’re both creatures of habit, and we miss our daily walks and, of course, our time together at the studio.
We still have a few more weeks of healing ahead, but she’s making steady progress and getting a little stronger each day. I’m so proud of how resilient she’s been—and incredibly grateful for all the love and support from our SBD family along the way.
We can’t wait to be back in the studio together soon. Until then, we’re taking things slow, soaking up the snuggles (on the floor for now), and counting down the days to our next walk.
Thanks for following along on Mavis’s recovery journey. She sends tail wags and a very sleepy side-eye from her crate. 🐾💕
